About the Sons of the American legion


The Sons of the American Legion is made up of the Sons and Grandsons of Veterans who Qualify as American Legion Members.  The Sons of the American Legion play a vital role in the well-being of the Post and its activities.

The requirements for membership in the Sons of the American Legion are as follows:

You must be the son or grandson of a veteran (who is a member in good-standing with the American Legion or is deceased) that has served at least one day of active military duty during the following dates and was honorably discharged or still serving honorably.

August 2, 1990 - cessation of hostilities as determined by the U.S. Government.

December 20, 1989 - January 31, 1990

August 24, 1982 - July 31, 1984

February 28, 1961 - May 7, 1975

June 25, 1950 - January 31, 1955

December 7, 1941 - December 31, 1946

April 6, 1917 - November 11, 1918

* Merchant Marines 12/7/41 - 8/15/45 (only eligibility)

You must possess and submit a copy of your fathers or grandfather's valid DD-214 to be eligible.
